In 184 CE, arguments were starting in China, over an uneven land division percentage between the North and the South. The settlers from the North, who were greatly lacking land, migrated on to the South, seeking a better life. This caused an abundant amount of unemployed farmers now traveling to the South. The southern landowners used this knowledge to their advantage and started using the Northerners for farm labor. Through this process, the landowners continued to gain fortune while the northern farmers became more and more poor. All the while, Emperor Ling (the Chinese emperor at the time) was imposing high taxes on the poor Northern farmers, which they were not able to pay. After a while, the farmers got fed up with the unfair land distribution and led by Zhang Jue they rebelled in what will be known as the Yellow Turban Rebellion. Through this rebellion against the Chinese authority, many changes were happening throughout China, some of them being widespread corruption and famine, and the spread of different religious views such as Taoism. This uncertainty of authority led people to lose trust in the Chinese government system, which only further worsened the rebellion. Although the Chinese had eventually stopped the rebels and gained back control of their country, the rebellion had greatly weakened China, and later led to the fall of the Han Dynasty in 220 CE.
